• Ballet Folklórico

SMMUSD is pleased to offer folklórico dance classes to all students in third through eighth grades. The program started in the 2021-22 school year and has continued to grow yearly. Ballet Folklórico translates to “Folkloric Dance"  in Spanish, also known as ballet folklórico; it is a collective term for traditional cultural dances that emphasize local folk culture with ballet characteristics – exaggerated graceful movements utilizing colorful costumes and highly choreographed dance. Each region in Mexico, the Southwestern United States, and Central American countries is known for a handful of locally characteristic dances.  Student participants will attend two 90-minute classes after school each week (3 hours a week). Information about start dates, class times, and how to sign up will be sent to families before classes begin.
