A meeting of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at 8:00 a.m. in Carousel C of the DoubleTree Hotel/ Guest Suites, 1707 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, California. The Board will call the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. at the above-referenced location and, following action of Item A.1, will then move to Closed Session in Carousel C of the DoubleTree Hotel/ Guest Suites, 1707 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, California, for the reason listed in Section V, below.

IV PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comments is the time when members of the audience may address the Board of Education on items not scheduled on the meeting's agenda. All speakers are limited to three (3) minutes. When there is a large number of speakers, the Board may reduce the allotted time to two(2) minutes per speaker. The Brown Act (Government Code) states that Board members may not engage in discussion of issues raised during "VIII, Public Comments" except to ask clarifying questions, make a brief announcement, make a brief report on his or her own activities, or to refer the matter to staff. This Public Comment section is limited to 20 minutes.

This meeting will adjourn to a regular meeting of the Board of Education scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2001 in Board Room of the District Offices, 1651 16th Street, Santa Monica, California, unless a continuance of the Closed Session is deemed necessary at the Board's discretion. Should such a continuance be necessary, the Closed Session of the Board of Education of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will be held in the Board Conference Room of the District Offices, 1651 16th Street, Santa Monica, California, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
