This summer we are planning to offer summer school on campus in some variation, provided it is allowable by the LA County Department of Health. If not allowable, we will offer it through Distance Learning. More specifics will be posted on this page as developed.
Credit Recovery is designed for students who need additional learning opportunities to fulfill graduation requirements. Credit Recovery summer school will be delivered in an online approach similar to our distance learning instructional program. Students who have been identified for this program have been contacted by a teacher or counselor. Priority will be given to students according to their grade level, with rising seniors having the highest priority. As spaces become available, we will accommodate students who need to repeat a class to raise their grade. There are no guarantees of enrollment. Letters of acceptance into CRSS will go out via email to enrolled students no later than Friday, June 17, 2021. If you have questions concerning CRSS, please talk with your student’s advisor.
Get Ahead Get Ahead Summer School is designed to give students the opportunity to take a year-long class during the summer. Get Ahead courses are offered at the college preparatory level and are free of charge. These courses are not designed for remediation. As such, attendance is critical to student success. Each period of the summer school day represents one semester of a year-long class. Students must attend both periods, for the duration of summer school in order to earn 10 credits.
Geometry Get Ahead is designed to support the various math pathways offered in SMMUSD. Students who have excelled in Algebra I, and who wish to progress through the highest levels of math offered at Samohi, should apply for the course. A full year of Geometry will be taught in an accelerated format. THIS APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED by MARCH 19 by 4PM to be considered in the lottery.
We are partnering with Santa Monica College to provide students with the opportunity to enroll in college courses that meet the learning outcomes outlined by the standards set out by the California Department of Education for the respective content area / course. Students at Samohi and Malibu High School can find information on how to register and enroll for SMC classes through the link below. You may also contact your school advisor or counselor for more information.
Please keep in mind that these classes are college level and will be more rigorous and students must take SMC courses for a letter grade, not PASS/FAIL. The grades earned will be on your student’s transcript.
Additional information about summer program options outside of our district available here. All courses MUST be APPROVED in advance by advisor before submitting commitment to the summer institution.
DO NOT LIST the SAMOHI Principal as the PRINCIPAL for purposes of SMC application.
