Welcome Message from Principal Daruty
Dear Webster Community,
Welcome to the 2000-2021 school year! As we launch this year in a Distance Learning format I am filled with excitement and optimism for a wonderful school year. I miss our being with our students on campus and look forward to the day we can be together in-person, soon. This year more than ever Webster teachers, staff, students and parents will work in partnership to provide quality learning experiences to our students. While I know that the impact of two consecutive community setbacks (Woolsey fires and now a global pandemic) have interrupted our students’ traditional education, we are a resilient community of learners. These experiences have placed a priority on the Social Emotional Learning of our students. While this has always been a part of our curriculum, it is now the center from which we will grow. As challenging as this year may be, I am open to the new, innovative possibilities this challenge will bring to the philosophy of how we teach and learn at Webster.
Throughout this year I plan to celebrate and honor student achievement; learn from and observe the student-centered, authentic learning experiences that our expert teachers provide; cultivate strong relationships between students, staff, teachers, parents and the community; and foster an environment where students have opportunities to cultivate the global competencies of character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our virtual doors-teachers, students and parents are excited about learning and feel safe to grow here. This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment.
All of us at Webster are eager to begin what promises to be an extraordinary year. This year we welcome a new teacher, Ms. Galletti, to our teaching staff. I look forward to experiencing how her talents will contribute to our collective success as a school. I invite you to visit, email, or call if you have any concerns, questions or celebrations you would like to share with me.
Your proud principal,
Ms. Daruty, M. Ed.
