    (Ineligible at 500 demerits or administrative discretion.)

    The practice will be held in the afternoon at Samohi and the students will be dismissed from Samohi at 3 pm.

    Students will run through the entire promotion ceremony to know which teacher they are walking with for the promotion ceremony.

    Promotion tickets will be distributed at the end of the promotion ceremony rehearsal.

    Student attendance at the rehearsal is required for participation in the Promotion Ceremony.

    8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
    9:30 am at Samohi in Barnum Hall

    (Ineligible at 500 demerits or administrative discretion.)

    The ceremonies will begin at 9:30 am. Students should arrive no later than 8:45 am. Parking may be limited in the immediate area, so plan to share a ride and allow time to park.

    Each eligible student will receive 2 tickets to the Promotion Ceremony. Extra tickets will be distributed based on availability by a drawing held before the tickets are distributed. Every guest, regardless of age, MUST have a ticket to enter Barnum hall. This includes infants and children even if you plan to have them sit on your lap. This is a requirement of Barnum Hall.

    Seating is on a first come, first served basis. If your family needs more tickets, we encourage you to communicate with other families to give/receive tickets.

    Please be respectful of others by remaining in your seat and not blocking aisles to get a picture of your child. Pictures can be taken at the end of the ceremony.

    *Proper Attire for Promotion Ceremony

    Boys:

    • Dress shirts and pants. Ties, sweaters, sports jackets or suits are optional.
    • No t-shirts or shorts.
    • Jeans are not recommended.

    Girls:

    • Daytime dresses, skirts and blouse, or nice pantsuit. Skirt length is the same as the regular school dress code.
    • No formals or strapless dresses, no spaghetti-strap dresses, no t-shirts or shorts.
    • Jeans are not recommended.
