  • Course Description

    This course covers the basic concepts of Biology: scientific investigation, cell structure and function, human anatomy and physiology, homeostasis, energy, molecules of life, DNA and genetics, variation, evolution and interactions in an ecosystem. The course is inquiry in nature and will build problem solving skills. Biological concepts are related to real world phenomena and applications. The course has a laboratory component with accompanying lab reports. Students will also focus on literacy skills and claims/evidence based writing. Students in biology will also learn about earth and space science topics with the implementation of next generation science standards.
